Full Description

A visit to Distillery Farm in 1973 revealed that the distillery equipment, located within the barn to the north of the farmhouse and consisting of the boiler and two vats/coppers, were still in situ, although they had not been used since 1958. The owner's grandfather had installed the equipment in 1926. It was noted within the report that the equipment was intended to be disposed of a year after the visit. The farm's main herb used for distillery was peppermint and ten to twelve acres was grown per year. Coriander and dill were also grown and distilled on site for gripe water. {1} Distillery Farm, Holbeach. 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of L plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. The farmhouse is the only surviving historic structure. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {2}
