Full Description

PRN 47250 Rose Cottage is probably the earliest building in the town. It was built as a farmhouse in the late 18th century, when it was known as Evelyn's Farm. In 1873 it was adapted by Dr Robert Cuffe as a small hospital for people who wished to take the waters but could not afford to stay at the Victoria Hotel. It is now a house and is much altered, including the installation of modern concrete roof tiles. It is considered to be of townscape value by the Conservation Area Appraisal. {1}
