Full Description

PRN 47220 Block of red brick commercial buildings which originally ran up to the Witham Road corner which was occupied by the 'London and Manchester' stores. Part of the block, which was previously symmetrical, was demolished in 1956 prior to 1960s road improvements. Traces of the 1950s alteration can be seen on the fabric of the north gable. The 1905 map shows one of the buildings as a bank and a wide doorway relating to this use can still be seen. These buildings are considered to be of townscape value by the Conservation Area Appraisal. {1}
