Full Description

PRN 70619 A number of features dating to the 13th-14th centuries were uncovered during an evaluation and watching brief. These include wall foundations associated with a structure which may have been a workshop, a hearth, and two keyhole shaped structures which may have been ovens (possibly corn-drying ovens) or kilns. {1}{2} During trial trenching on land between Robey Court and 49 High Street, Pre-Construct Archaeology Services revealed a pit which contained several early 13th century pot sherds and another undated pit which was sealed by a layer of dark earth which contained further 13th century pottery sherds. {3}{4}
