PRN 24094 The Crown Public House is one of twenty-one inns and taverns listed in White’s Directory of 1856 and one of four on West Street. {1} Brick built, two storey public house with a modern tile roof. Two modern chimney stacks at either end of the building. Three windows, sliding sashes with horns, stone cills and decorative brick arch headers to the first floor The ground floor has a central doorway and two windows larger than those at the first floor. {2} This building is a good example of this style of building from this period but has in the past been altered and has lost many of its original features and its historic character has been diminished. {3}
