Full Description

PRN 24093 Two and a half storey brick built building, whitewashed with inserted shop fronts. Two dormer windows in roofline with large central brick chimney stack. Two sliding sash windows with stone cills. To the south of the southern most window there is a small whitewashed plaque attached to the wall approximately 60 centimetres above the North Street sign. Likely to be part of the same build as 2 East Street but this is not definite {1} Old photographs of Trinity Bridge show this building in the background. It shows that at the time the picture was taken it was a house with a single door to the northern side and two windows of the same dimensions as those on the first floor. An engraving shows the windows as arched rather than square headed, although this may be dramatic licence. It also depicts the building as having a shop front at this point and a second entrance to it. Unfortunately there are no dates for these pictures. {3} This building is a good example of this style of building from this period but has in the past been altered and has lost many of its original features and its historic character has been diminished. {2}
