Full Description

PRN 47145 Typical mid 19th century E-plan model farm with red brick, pantile roofed buildings including a barn, stables, cattle shelters, cart sheds and stores. The buildings are arranged around two crew yards. Some buildings, particularly the east range and the barn, show signs of having existed before the mid 19th century remodelling, and the barn appears to have originally functioned as a threshing barn. The buildings have been extensively altered and added to as farming practices have changed up to the present day. One of the later buildings appears to have housed a stationary steam engine. Few original internal features survive, and many of the buildings are now in poor condition or derelict. A detailed building survey was carried out prior to their conversion to residential use. {1}{2} Bunkers Cottages (Bunkers Farm), Welton Le Wold. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of E plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {3}
