Full Description

The field boundary that runs north-north-east to south-south-west across this field is documented on a map of the 17th century, as is the northern boundary. It is thought that these boundaries may be relics of an earlier, possibly medieval, field system. Both hedges contained at least 7 species of plant, which is thought to indicate an age of approximately 700 years. This suggests that they are associated with clearance and extension of farmland in the 13th century. {1}
