PRN 37064 The Church was built in 1840-41 and extended in 1883-84. It is some 83 by 53 feet in size and built from Ancaster stone by the architect A. Salvin. It was built by the local firm of Wilson and Collingwood under the patronage of Lady Brownlow and with a contribution from Queen Adelaide in 1840-41. it is built in a plain Early English style with a short window tower with pinnacles. The aisles were widened in 1883-84 when the chancel was rebuilt. St George's chapel is in the south transept. There are five lancet windows containing stained glass of 1911 by Archibald Nicholson of Lincoln's Inn - a copy of 14th century glass at Chartres Cathedral.
