Full Description

Site of the Earle's Fields Works of Alexander and John Shaw, 'Fellmongers, Leather dressers and Parchment Manufacturers and makers of Skivers, Roans and Basils, Aprons, Plasters and Strains, Sod Oil and Splits'. They appear to have operated there for over sixty years between the 1860s and 1920s. In the mid 1930s, another firm encouraged to come to Grantham was the Swedish company Bjorlow, who opened up and modernised the Shaw works and operated there for another thirty years or so. This business closed down in the 1960s, however, and the buildings were demolished in 1975. {1}{2}
