PRN 37041 Site of former ropewalk. Old maps and trade directories indicate that occupying the buildings which once lined Westgate, a centre of rural commerce, were many former agricultural 'service industries' such as nail makers, small brass and iron founders, ropemakers, blacksmiths, wheelrights and the like.{1} Depicted on the Ordnance Survey County Series map of 1905 and the Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map of 1971. The building does not appear on later maps. Demolished sometime after 1971.{2}{3}
