The site of Richard Boyall's 'Carriage and Steam Wheel Works'. Between 1860 and 1890 Boyall's produced an extensive range of carriages, artillery wheels and cart components. Their workshops no longer exist but the showroom building, shown in etchings of the time, still remain and has been carefully restored as a Jewson's offices and trade centre. Just to the right of the shop entrance is the factory bell and across the yard can be seen the traces of the former forge shop with its line of forge chimneys.{1}
