A stone slab which may have been a Roman coffin lid was discovered during gravel digging at Grey Lees (site of an Anglo Saxon cemetery - see PRN 60375), but efforts to recover it in order to investigate it further were unsuccessful. During these investigations, a Roman coin of Valens and some pottery fragments including Samian were discovered. {1}{2}
