Full Description

PRN 36981 Small country house constructed c. 1650 and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is built of limestone ashlar with some coursed rubble and rendered brick, and a Collyweston tiled roof with some pantiles. Graffito scratched into stone near a doorway reads "E.E. 1753". The house was owned by Lord Clinton, a leading Puritan. The early 18th century gate piers and flanking walls are also listed (PRN 38349). Partially extant 17th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of L plan. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a village. {4}
