Full Description

Former school with school house, now a house, with datestone of 1857. The buildings are constructed of rock-faced limestone with slate roofs, and have had minor 20th century alterations. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The school was designed by Charles Kirk. {2} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the school and teacher's residence were paid for by a Miss Cheney, the late lady of the manor. {3} The building can be seen on both the 1889 and 1905 OS maps of the village. {4}{5}
