Full Description

PRN 65209 A range of farm buildings at Poplar Farm, Helpringham, including a threshing barn where grain (and perhaps bought-in foodstuffs) was stored on the first floor which was reached by an external stairway at the back. The only part of the building which accomodated functions tradtionally associated with the barn was a small room between the open-sided bays in which fodder was prepared. A stable-block contains many original features, including a tack-room where harness still hangs on large timber pegs. The farm buildings also include a covered yard, with roof trusses constructed sometime in the late 19th century.{1} Poplar Farm, Helpringham. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with a covered yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {2}
