Full Description

A Hawker Hurricane Mk I fighter aircraft, designated V6734, crashed on land to the south-west of Holbeach, on the 5th January 1942. The pilot did not survive the crash. {1}{2} The original Royal Air Force accident card for this Hawker Hurricane states that the fighter dived out of thick cloud at high speed into the ground during a heavy snow storm. The aircraft crashed 400m west of the southern end of Cranmore Lane, two miles west of Holbeach, at 11.00am on the 5th January 1942. {3}
