Full Description

Possible Second World War coastal defences at Huttoft. Series of semi-circular mounds, quite regularly spaced and set in a saw-tooth pattern either side of a ditch. Seen on Google maps (web site) aerial photograph layer. {1}{2} The interpretation of these earthwork mounds as Second World War defensive works is incorrect. These are modern features and not related to the Second World War. In the 1990s some major drainage work was done locally and they accepted soil with a view to creating golf hazards, hence the reason that the soil was put in heaps. The heaps are known locally as 'McGintys Mole Hills'. {3}
