Full Description
Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow to the east of Warth House, identified on aerial photographs by the National Mapping Programme. {1}
The earthworks were all visible to varying degrees on the Google Maps aerial photograph layer in 2007. {2}{3}
Earthwork remains of the ridge and furrow were noted in August 2014, during a site visit conducted to assess the impact of proposed residential development on land off 'The Meadows', Warth Lane, Skegness. The earthwork remains were noticeably more distinct at the northern end of the site, although weather and ground conditions on the day of the visit were poor. {4}
A topographic survey was conducted in November 2015 to record the previously noted medieval remains, prior to proposed residential development. The survey recorded three distinct areas of ridge and furrow earthworks at the northern end of the site, separated by boundary ditches and headlands. No evidence for domestic occupation was identified in the surveyed area. {5}{6}
