Full Description
A complex sequence of medieval deposits was revealed in June 2007, during trial trenching at The Golden Eagle Public House, 21 High Street, Lincoln. The deposits include a cobbled surface which appears to have been laid during or after the 13th century. A late medieval jetton was found lying on the cobbles and indicates that this surface was still in use at this time. Pieces of 12th-13th century roof tile from an overlaying demolition deposit suggest that there was a stone structure with a tile roof present on site at a similar time to the cobbled surface. A stone-lined well was also encountered which may be of similar date to the other features. {1}{2}
