Full Description

PRN 64910 Sleaford Swimming Baths, now looking extremely modern but actually over 100 years old. They were opened in 1886 after a long campaign by one of the members of the local Board of Health, who was concerned that people were bathing in the waters of the Slea itself. Not only was this unhealthy, but the local newspapers make it clear that it deeply offended Victorian morality. In any event, the new Bristol Baths were deliberately placed here to discourage bathing in the river itself.{1}
