Full Description

A Bronze Age cushion-type perforated axe-hammer (also referred to as a mace-head or adze-head) was found in this field in 1933 or 1934. The hammer is made of a silicified band ash stone, a type found in the Lake District and north Wales although it may have been brought to Lincolnshire by a glacier. The axe-hammer may be a ceremonial item. {1}{2}{3}
