Full Description

PRN 55418 18th century vernacular style farm buildings. A mixture of single and two-storey buildings, comprising barns, stables and associated structures. All the buildings are linked to form an U-shaped, enclosed courtyard. There is also a separate L-shaped building to the east of the main area. The construction to the various buildings is a mixture of solid brickwork and stonework, with brick piers and timber posts where the buildings are open on the crew yard side. Roof coverings to all the buidings around the crew yard are pitched and clad in clay pantiles. The barns occupy a fairly large plot, adjacent to a working farm and with the southern corner of the main buildings adjoining the farmhouse. The two-storey barn has a first-floor dovecote.{1} Holme Farm, Bishop Norton. Extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. Located within a loose farmstead cluster. {2}
