Full Description

PRN 64831 A Primitive Methodist chapel is marked on the 1905 O.S. map, although it is not clear which building the label refers to. {1} There is no mention of a Methodist chapel in the village in White's Directory of 1856, suggesting that it had not yet been built. {2} There is no sign of this building on the current map, and it appears to have been demolished and the site built over. {3} The site was visited in 2009. A modern bungalow now stands on the probable site. The first chapel was built in 1875, though prior to that Primitive Methodists appear to have met in a cottage in Swarby. The chapel of 1875 was replaced by a new chapel in in 1910 which closed in 1937.{4}{5}
