Full Description

Former house built in 1858 for John Hardy, who founded the local banking house of Hardy & Co. The house was purchased in 1931, by Mrs Dorothy Schwind, daughter of a local brewer, Col. Hutchinson. It was converted into schoolrooms in 1940, when it used by Camden High School for Girls and then by the Spitalgate School for Boys. This use continued until 1951, when the building was purchased by the Kesteven Standing Joint Committee for the Lincolnshire Police, and converted into use as a police headquarters. Constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate hipped roof, and comprised of a two-storey main block with a three-storey brick service wing to the rear. The building spent a number of years lying unused until about 2017, when the wider site was acquired by Grantham College. The building has since been refurbished. {3}{4}
