Full Description

PRN 64555 Primitive Methodist chapel, brick built with circular window and later lean-to porch, dated 1883. {1} A Primitive Methodist chapel built in 1841 is mentioned in White's Directory, suggesting that the current building replaced an earlier chapel. {2} The site was visited in 2009. The gabled chapel is built of red brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. A lean-to prch on the north west gable has a doorway with a caernarvon arch with ashlar roll mouldings. In the gable above is a circular window with circular plate tracery and a small rectangular opening. The slate roof has decorative terracotta ridge tiles and finials. The side elevation facing the street has four bays of segemental-headed glazing bar windows with moulded jambs and five ashlar memorial stones dated 1883. The eaves are overhanging with wooden eaves boards.{3}{4}{5}
