Full Description

PRN 55393 School, now village hall built c.1850. Colourwashed rubble, slate roof with overhanging eaves. Single storey with four irregular placed windows with ogee heads and partially fixed windows with glazing bars. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2} White’s 1872 Trade Directory states that the school was attended at the time by about 43 children. {3} The school is shown on the 1905 OS map in its current plan. A building immediately to the north of the school, now no longer extant, may have been the schoolmaster’s house. {4}
