Full Description

PRN 23995 A concentration of Romano-British features and finds was identified during trial trenching and a watching brief. These features include a number of ditches containing Roman pottery of mostly mid-late 2nd century date (with a few later sherds) as well as a broad, shallow hollow containing a significant quantity of briquetage, indicating salt making activity on the site. The briquetage is of 1st-2nd century type, indicating that the salt making activity may have been the first Romano-British activity on site, followed by the possible settlement represented by the ditches and the pottery found in them. {1}{2}
