Full Description

PRN 64433 A former field boundary was recorded during an archaeological excavation on a gas pipeline. It was 3m wide and 1m deep, crossing the southern part of the excavation area on an east to west alignment. It contained post medieval tile fragments and s single sherd of residual Roman pottery. This ditch was on a similar alignment to earlier ditches (Iron Age and Roman), probably reflecting the gentle north to south gradient in the field rather than any continuity of the pattern of land division. A north to south aligned furrow in the northern part of the excavation area was 3m wide and up to 30cm deep.{1}{2}
