Full Description
PRN 70545
It has been suggested that there may have been a Mithraeum somewhere in Lincoln, probably in the down-hill area. This is based on the interpretation of the figure carved onto the stone (PRN 70544) re-used in the tower of St Peter at Gowts church as the mithraic god Arimanius due to its parallels with other images of this figure. However, the stone is very eroded, and other interpretations of the figure's identity have been put forward (see PRN 70544). {1}
