Full Description

A former brickworks is depicted in this location to the north of Sedgebrook, on the 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey County Series map. {1} The brickworks at Sedgebrook was still operating in 1925, and produced mostly pantiles and drainpipes, along with some handmade bricks. Clay for the products was extracted from shallow diggings on the site. The bricks from this works were reputed to be very durable, and to outwear the best machine-made bricks at the time. The products from this works were distributed by road to villages within a ten mile radius. {2}
