Full Description

School. Dated 1841. Symmetrical. The porch gablet is combined with a bell-turret as at Great Gonerby. {1} The school was founded by the Marquis of Bristol, Anthony Willson Esq. and the Reverend E. Trollope. {2} The school lies almost exactly on the boundary between the two villages. It was built and opened in 1842 as a church school, paid for by subscription. The building itself comprised two rooms accommodating initially fourty-three or so pupils who attended. A third room was added later, and a house built to accommodate a teacher. It was built in the neo-Tudor style common to South Rauceby after the Hall had been completed. Living accommodation for the teachers was provided at the school in North Rauceby and it seems that most of the teachers lived there until the 1870s. {3}
