Full Description

PRN 64267 There was a chapel in South Rauceby dedicated to St James, and in the gift of the Priory of Shelford. It stood a little to the north of the village of South Rauceby, and on the east of the road leading to North Rauceby. Holles, about the year 1640, speaking of South Rauceby says: "In this place the church is down". The chapel appears to have been pulled down before 1640 and all traces of it had disappeared by 1871.{1} St Jame's Chapel site. Chapel was demolished before 1640. The published site is marked only by amorphous surface disturbance.{2}{3} The site of the chapel is depicted on the Ordnance Survey County Series map of 1905.{4}
