Full Description

A parish church built in 1839 by W. A. Nicholson. It was constructed in stock brick with limestone with ashlar dressings. It has slate roofs with stone coped gables and cross finials. The building also has a west tower, a nave with a porch to the south and a small chancel. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The church was built to replace an earlier medieval church, located to the south-east of the modern settlement centre (see PRN 40345). This earlier church was deemed to be inconveniently distant, and a faculty for its demolistion and subsequent rebuilding was obtained in 1836. {2}
