  • (Medieval - 1189 AD to 1539 AD)

Full Description

PRN 64148 A grange at Cranwell is included in the list of possessions belonging to the Gilbertine priory at Sempringham in 1189. In 1303 the prior also held one quarter of a knight's fee in Cranwell. A chapel and grange at Cranwell are listed in the wealth of the priory assessed in 1535. {1} It is not known where the grange was located, however it seems likely that it might have been at Byard's Leap, which was considered extra-parochial before 1851 when it was joined with Cranwell. {2}
