Full Description
PRN 46712
This site was identified during fieldwalking in advance of a water pipeline, when a small scatter of prehistoric pottery was noted. Subsequently the site was excavated, revealing two rectangular ditched enclosures of differing sizes, the more northerly one being the larger. Both enclosures were aligned approximately north-west/south-east and ran beneath the present line of the Caistor High Street. Associated with the enclosures were three post holes and several possible post holes. The pottery recovered all dates to the late 1st century BC/early 1st century AD. Nothing further was seen during the watching brief. {1}
