Full Description

Former village school. Single storey stone building, under a pitched gabled slate roof. {1} The school is shown on the 1889 and 1905 OS maps. {2}{3} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the Rev. J.W. King, B.D., supported a school for his poor parishoners. {4} The construction date for the school is not known. Possibly built during the expansion of the Ashby Hall estate by the Rev. J.W. King sometime between 1841 and 1875. {5}
