Full Description

A walkover survey carried out along the proposed Clayhill WTW Nitrate Reduction Scheme pipeline route noted earthworks representing partially levelled medieval ridge and furrow cultivation remains in Fields 11 and 12. These are also visible on aerial photographs. An earthwork ditch was also visible between the fields, and may be medieval in origin. Two medieval pottery sherds were recovered from Field 13, on the other side of London Road. {1}{2} Ridge and furrow were recorded during archaeological evaluation trenching prior to the construction of a housing development. {3}
