Full Description

PRN 70495 Trial trenching at Brayford Wharf North revealed late Saxon features including pits and a ditch as well as quantities of 10th and 11th century pottery. These features indicate domestic activity of some description although no further interpretation was possible. A thick deposit of brown sandy loam, interpreted as made ground, underlay these features and probably represents reclamation of the marshland in the 10th century. {1}{2}
