Protected Status/Designation

Full Description

PRN 70493 Four inhumation burials and several pieces of disarticulated human bone were discovered during trial trenching at Brayford Wharf North. No grave goods or identifiable grave cuts were found. The burials were aligned both north-south and east-west. They were tentatively dated as Roman by the excavators, but this is disputed due to the marshy nature of the ground at this time and also its closeness to the colonia walls. The burials are now preserved in situ beneath the development. {1}{2}
