PRN 55310 The barns were built in the early 19th century as part of the Monson agricultural estate in the village of South Carlston. They were originally used by employees of Lord Monson, but later were let to the Morris family. The buildings are built of brick and stone with pantile roofs and include barns, cart sheds and storage sheds arranged around a central crew yard in an arrangement typical of the planned agricultural buildings popular during 19th century farm improvement. {1} Low Barn, South Carlton. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a village. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {2}
