Full Description

Manor Farm was built in 1847 on land that was part of the Turnor estate. The buildings consist of stables, a barn, a cart shed and various animal and storage sheds built in a rectangle around a central crew yard. Many internal features are still present. Originally the buildings were built as outfarm buildings for Grange Farm, and they cost £500 to build. There have been some recent alterations, such as the covering of half the crew yard, but this site is still a well preserved example of the sort of purpose built and designed farm buildings favoured by farm improvers such as Christopher Turnor. {1} Manor Barn (Manor Farm), Barlings. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. {2}
