Full Description

The field between Algarkirk church and the site of the Old Hall is one of the few fenland shrunken village sites which are known. Although the site has been ploughed in the past and no upstanding earthworks remain, pottery from this field and an area immediately surrounding shows occupation from the 7th century through the Saxo-Norman and medieval periods. The site is at present under rough pasture. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
