Full Description

PRN 46449 Several ditches were discovered during excavation prior to construction of the Partney by-pass. The ditches were all north-south aligned and very close together and seem likely to represent a long-standing boundary re-cut several times. The earliest feature contained pottery dating to 1000-1150 AD. Postholes which may relate to structures were also found near the medieval ditches, as was a quarry pit. Together these may represent the periphery of medieval settlement. {1}{2}
