PRN 70477
A geophysical survey was undertaken on land at South Park, Lincoln. A range of magnetic anomalies were identified, some of which reflected known services and former land divisions. A series of localised and strong anomalies were identified over much of the survey area as well as several ephemeral linear ditches and pits in the central and eastern part of the survey.{1}
Twelve trenches were investigated to evaluate a proposed development. These trenches identified a number of undated ditches and pits, sealed beneath alluvial deposits that are indicative of seasonal flooding.{2}{3}
A subsequent archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks for a school development. Although thirty-three cut features were recorded during the watching brief, twenty-four produced no dating evidence, with many of these features being so heavily disturbed that not even their forms could be confidently be described.{4}{5}
