Full Description
Religious houses were recorded by Bede in the seventh century at Partney, and another as being 'near Partney', which it is suggested, due to later events there, may have been located in Skendleby. It is thought to have had a connection with Bardney Abbey. The monastery at Partney is thought not to have long survived the settlement of the Danish raiding army in 872-73, and therefore the religious house at Skendleby may have had a similar fate. {1}
