Full Description
63610
There is a former Wesleyan Methodist chapel in Heckington, which is now known as 'St Andrew's Church House'. It is constructed of red brick with a hipped roof, and two tiers of windows. It has a defaced tablet dated 1835. {1}{2}
The site was visited in 2009. The first Wesleyan Chapel in Heckington was built in 1809 and was replaced by this chapel in 1835 though it is unclear if this was on the site. It was superseded by the Church Street Chapel in 1904-5 (PRN 63609). The street front elevation has three bays with a central flat-headed doorway with a pair of doors, in a flat-roofed porch, with the tablet above, between two tiers of segmental-headed glazing-bar sash windows with ashlar keystones. The fenestration has been altered on the east elevation. There are wooden eaves boards. The chapel included a Sunday School which is probably represented by the rear part of the building which has a separate entrance.{3}{4}{5}
