Full Description

Church Cote was opened in October 1897, at the south-east corner of Priory Road. The structure replaced an earlier foundry building on the site, and was the gift of Sisters Eva and Ellen. It was intended to act as a parish room and hall for organisations associated with churches in the town. The building appears to have been designed by Austin and Paley (Archtiects) of Lancaster. The premises consisted of a main room, linked to a side room, with a lean-to kitchen. The accomodation was sufficient for gatherings of up to 200. At sometime in the 1960s the building was incorporated into a neighbouring sausage and pie manufacturing business. {1}{2}
