An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land to the east of Alexandra Terrace, Lincoln. The evaluation identified a section of the defensive ditch of the upper Roman city. The ditch was found to be at least 9m wide and over 2m deep, although the full extent of the ditch was not revealed in the evaluation trench. For the most part, deposits recorded in the ditch were undated, although large quantities of Roman building debris were encountered.{1}{2}
