Full Description

PRN 36592 A watching brief and subsequent excavation conducted along the route of the Silk Willoughby to Staythorpe Gas Pipeline identified a pit alignment on a northwest to southeast axis. Thirty pits were mapped which covered a distance of approximately 70m. The pit alignment bisected an earlier Bronze Age ring ditch. A total of twelve pits were excavated, and some of these produced pottery dating to the late Bronze Age / Iron Age transition.{1}{2}
